Willoughby Carlo
She/Her/Hers or They/Them/Theirs
Willoughby grew up in rural Vermont. Ever since she picked up her first 35mm camera, halfway through college, Willoughby knew that the camera is a powerful tool and photography is a special kind of art form. At Hampshire College Willoughby studied Food Justice & Food Policy, and some photography. since graduating college, she has settled in Western Mass, built herself a darkroom, started working with the Vermont Center for Photography, In-Sight Photography Project, and tries to pursue photography and art whenever she can. Willoughby primarily focuses on analog photography and experimental art forms.
Alejandra Spruill
Alejandra Spruill is a Boston born and raised artist. Alejandra first trained in photography at Artists for Humanity, an arts education program out of South Boston, and went on to receive a B.A. in Visual Media Arts Production from Emerson College. Upon completing film school she went on to earn a Juris Doctor from the University of Massachusetts School of Law at Dartmouth. An affectionate lover of all things analog, Alejandra is excited to pay forward their skills to the next generation of photographers.
Laisa Bellomo-Johnson
Laisa Bellomo-Johnson is an artist who works primarily with analog and alternative photography techniques. She first started out as a student at In-Sight in highs chool. She has worked as a photographer and videographer in Brazil and is now focusing on education. Laisa holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art & Design and is enrolled in the MAT program at Maine College of Art & Design.
Ben Cowper
Ben Cowper is a freelance videographer who also teaches one-on-one tutorials with students. He studied photography and filmmaking in college, and has taught at Hampshire College’s Creative Media Institute summer program. He loves helping students explore and discover new ways to create art and documentary work with a camera.
David Mazor
David Mazor is a photographer and educator, having taught at BUHS for 13 years in addition to providing professional photography services. He’s taught a few classes at In-Sight over the past few years, like Night Photography.
Joshua Carnes
Meet Joshua Carnes, snapping photos since he first picked up a point-and-shoot in 2003. Josh has traveled and photographed extensively across the northeast, Europe, and the Middle East. He enjoys shooting medium format film, focusing on architectural and archival photography. Beyond the lens, he actively contributes to preserving history as the vice president of the Brattleboro Historical Society. Josh’s dedication to Brattleboro’s vibrant history is also reflected in his Instagram account, @landmarksofbrattleboro, where he shares interesting glimpses of the town’s past. Now, Josh is thrilled and honored to share his knowledge as he takes on the role of teaching at In-Sight Photography, a place that holds special significance as his son, Ronen, has been a part of its classes before. Through his lens and research, Josh continues to weave the vibrant tapestry of history and art.
Eduardo Melendez
Eduardo Melendez has a masters degree in photography and has exhibited his work in multiple galleries and published photojournalism work in Puerto Rico and the US. Eduardo has taught at the college level classes and is interested in teaching studio lighting and modifying light for outdoor on-location shoots.
Zinnia Siegle
Zinnia is an In-Sight alum who will be assistant teaching her first class in the Spring. After earning an Associate’s Degree at age 19, she is on a gap year working as a freelance photographer and gallery associate.
Zinnia traces her artistic roots back to her first class at In-Sight, and has since developed a passion for art education. She firmly believes in the transformative power of visual language for communication and critical thinking.
