Make your own camera!
In this class, students will design and construct their own functional pinhole cameras and use them to make unique photographs. We will explore various camera designs throughout the history of photography, and learn about the fundamentals of capturing an image through hands-on demos and experimentation. Using common objects such as cans and cardboard, students will make at least one pinhole camera of their own and experiment with shooting onto paper negatives that they will develop in the darkroom.
All equipment will be provided by In-Sight, and students will get to take cameras home to use on their own time.
This class is appropriate for all students, and is open to ages 11-18.
Classes are offered regardless of ability to pay, and no youth is ever turned away because of their family’s economic circumstances. Families are asked to pledge and pay what they can.
In-Sight is committed to providing safe, accessible spaces for our students. Have questions about accommodations? Reach out to our Program Director Rachel Boettcher at rachelb@insight-photography.org.
